I just got off the phone with musicbyoscar. For some reason we had a difficult time understanding each other, and our conversation went something like this:
musicbyoscar: "you might be getting a phone call today from a company called keg kits."
slycreations: "cake tits?"
musicbyoscar: "Yeah, keg kits. i ordered stuff from them on Valentines, and it hasn't shown up yet. I'm checking up on my order."
slycreations: "You ordered 'cake tits' for Valentines?"
musicbyoscar: "I ordered from their website -- KegKits.com."
slycreations: "CakeTits.com?"
musicbyoscar: "yeah."
slycreations: "I must not be understanding you. Did you say 'tits' as in T-I-T-S???"
musicbyoscar: "Kits -- K-I-T-S."
slycreations: "Oh. Why did you order cake kits?"
musicbyoscar: "I need supplies to keg my beer."
slycreations: "Why would you order beer supplies from a cake website?"
Anyway -- eventually after a few more rounds, I finally understood "keg" and not "cake", and all was well.
Of course, now that I think about it... perhaps "cake tits" would make an ideal gift for someone you know.

Three weekends ago, I finally unpacked and organized all of my cake decorating equipment. Two weekends ago I actually baked and decorated a cake. Angie (one of the owners of the Copa Wine Bar) turned 40 on the 19th, and I volunteered to do the cake for her big party. Considering I haven't decorated in years, I'm pretty proud of how it all turned out. She requested that her cake have polka dots, swirly metal deely-bobbers, and her nickname 'Cuchillo' on it. You can see the full-size photo of the cake here .

The cake itself was Bailey's chocolate fudge and pistachio with a chocolate Bailey's marshmallow filling, covered with a traditional chocolate buttercream, and then covered with dark chocolate Satin Ice. The polka dots and pearls were made from White Satin Ice, tinted pink, generously brushed with luster dust. It was 4 layers (12", 10", 8", and 6"), and each layer was between 3 and 4 inches tall. It was quite heavy when it was done -- thank goodness I had
musicbyoscar to help me move it.

Almost a year ago, I was talking about the end of Threadbared, my favorite blog. I was sad. I was missing their witty attacks on fashion blunders. I thought I'd never find blog-related snarkiness that was suited to the things *I* like to poke fun at.
So, as a part time cake decorator who has a degree in English, I must say, I totally love this cake-grammar nightmare entry at CakeWrecks.com -- which is now filling the "favorite blog" void left by Threadbared (if you haven't read Threadbared -- read the blog online or buy the book.)
Thanks to
dawntreader90 for blogging about CakeWrecks a few weeks ago. Luv You!!
